Poster for a re-imagined 1983 / 84 production of Die Hermannsschlacht (The Battle of Hermann) a drama in five acts by Heinrich von Kleist based on the Battle of Teutoburg Forest in the year 9 AD between the Romans and a coalition of Germanic tribes. Performed at the Schauspielhaus Bochum (Bochum Theatre) in Germany and directed by Claus Peymann. Quote from Kleist reads: "Hättet ihr halb nur soviel, als jetzo, einander zu stürzen, Euch zu erhalten getan: glücklich noch wärt ihr und frei. Kleist" translation: "If you had done even half as much as you have now to overthrow one another, to preserve yourselves, you would still be happy and free. - Kleist"
