For 20 years, beginning in 1970, the Herman Miller company picnic was announced with a series of posters as eagerly anticipated as the event itself. The Michigan firm is a designer/ manufacturer of distinguished modern furniture--most notably, perhaps, for the Eames chair--so it's no surprise that the posters are also models of excellent design. A complete collection of all 20 posters is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
